    Replacing needles bearings?

I rarely use the 4wd being a diesel it's pretty heavy. Mainly use it to get out of a slick spot when the front ends starts to bog down. Hoping I can find that axle seal in stock today, mine are toasted. Thanks for the input.

    Replacing needles bearings?

I thought it was too but I had just done the drivers side last year and they are loose too. Wondering if I was given the wrong bearings. Cheap fix though so it's off to the parts house. Are those needle bearings much to worry over? I'm thinking just smear some new grease in there and go on. ?

    Replacing needles bearings?

Replaced both sets of ball joints tonight and got to thinking that with over 260,00 miles, it might be time to rework those needle bearings inside the axle stubs. Anyone have any input on this? Should I just smear some new grease in there and call it good? They don't look bad and the seals...

    Hub tool

Yes it's all so clear now!!! I found a diagram on Warn's site that showed me the light. Thanks for all the help. By the way, there is not a not a locknut that would require a spanner wrench or spindle wrench type tool. I am concerned that I'm missing what Warn referes to as a lockring key...

    Hub tool

Here's the problem "nut" I'm trying to remove. Anyone seen this before or is my truck one of all the thousands they put this crap on?!!

    Hub tool

Front hub. And I've beat on it with a screwdriver and hammer and can't get it to turn either direction. Tried 7 different spindle/hub sockets and none fit. Dealership doesn't even show the same parts on thier computer.

    Hub tool

Anyone have a clue on how to get the big aluminum nut off of the front hub on a 96 f250 with auto hubs? Been to NAPA twice and still have the wrong tool. Trying to investigate a possible bearing failure and I'm already fed up with the deal. Ready to light it on fire and walk away!

    Help Needed Repair manuals

Hey thanks for all the responses guys! I'll dig around on the DTS site and see what it has, looks good at first glance. Thinking I'll stick with the auto hubs if I can, I'm pretty lazy!

    Help Needed Repair manuals

I've been looking over the Helm Inc. line of manuals. Seems that this is the one I need, FCS1210796. But not wanting to order what I don't need. I need that will show me the parts and diagrams of the front hub assembly. About to repair or replace my auto locking hubs and am I'm looking for...

    Leak

Do you have to drain the whole oil system? I would think not since it wouldn't be under pressure. I'm sure some would leak out but just wondering should this turn out to be my issue and I dive off into it. Thanks

    Leak

I may have a simliar problem. How hard is it to fix a leak like this? Mine is falling right on my front diff. I haven't had time to get under there and wipe it all down to source it exactly but from what all I've read on here, it is most likely a HPOP or related to it somehow. I've got...

    Worn hinge pins

    Yes sir, thanks!

    Worn hinge pins

Yea I knew they were slotted but I've got more than 1/8 inch! I can see daylight if that tells you anything. I think replacing the pins will fix it because I can lift the door and see the slack in the pin area and I hate to start moving hinges just as a temporary fix. Thanks for all ya'll...

    Worn hinge pins

You make it sound so simple!! I'll have to give it a try, the wind noise from the gap in my door is getting to me!! Thanks

    Worn hinge pins

Thanks for the part number. So I just drill out the old ones and drop those in I'm guessin? Any special tools needed, etc?? Just trying to get it all lined out before I take the door off. Hate to have to run around town without a door looking for a tool or something! Thanks.

    Worn hinge pins

Anyone have any luck changing out just the pins or is that even an option? My driver's door has been drooping and it seems to be due to some slack in the hinge pins. Swapping out all new hinges looks like a big PIA having to remove the dash and such. Has anyone tried putting in some shims...

    Fuel economy

13 is probably my average. more like 12 with the occasional 15 thrown in just to keep me happy I guess. That's mixed driving but most is probably hwy. time. Now...if I could just keep a tranny under it!

    96 PSD tranny problems

Mine shifts fine still. Just starts out in second gear and doesn't have reverse which is very inconveinent to say the least. I hope it's something simple.

Yes....again. Too bad the new ones cost as much as a new house or I'd be done with this old thing!

    96 PSD tranny problems

Towing a load today and lost my first gear and reverse. Fluid does not appear burnt and was still registering on the stick although it's hard to tell much on that stupid dipstick. Obvious signs of fluid leaking all over the undercarriage so I added 2 quarts and still no change. Couldn't tell...

Question: Has anyone added the aux switches

What do those switches do anyway?
  23. B

    What is it?

Thanks for the info. Now I understand why my brake light comes on and gradually fades out if I've been sitting with the brakes on but engine off. I guess I'll just dab some liquid electrical tape on the bare wires and add some chafe protection. Great guys on the board, thanks for all the help.

    What is it?

OK, what does it do and how does it work? When my vacuum pump went out a few years ago there wasn't a warning light or anything so does that mean that the switch wasn't working?
  25. B

    What is it?

First I'll try to explain what I'm looking at because I don't have my digital camera handy. Following the vacuum line from the pump it leads to a distribution block of sorts. From that, there is a short line that runs to a disc shaped object that is fastened to the driver side wheel well...
