Thanks. He's done all of my 6.0 work on the last 6 trucks. The plan is to hold onto this one unless someone offers me so much for it that I just can't deny selling it! I'm really excited to get it back, driving dad's truck this week is humbling.... :D But, at least I'm still driving a...

He does it either way. On mine, he'll likely just do the work under the cab. John had the cab off and fluids all drained in right at 2 hours yesterday. He plans to have the heads off, egr system off, and oil cooler off today as well as get the studs in, new gaskets on and the heads sitting...

Question Best tuner or Custom tunes

SCT with Tunes from Eric at Innovative is the way to go IMHO. I've had 7 6.0s and this is hands down the best tuner I've ever put on one!

    Need opinions on this setup...

Not a bad price. I picked everything up for mine for about 1300, that included everything they're showing and all the updated parts from Ford.

    Uh-oh

I would say it was a flash boil of coolant, but your checks will confirm or deny that. As for the oil cooler, Ford has a redesigned unit out that will be going in my Harley truck on its next visit to the dealer. Dad's will be getting it as well along with head studs and the EGR delete from...

It's going to my diesel mechanic for head studs, egr delete, coolant filter, amsoil bypass filter, etc. in the next couple of weeks. It's not too bad to do though and I have an extra delete at the shop if you're interested..... PM me here or on KCJC.

    Aftermarket Injectors???

Pensacola Diesel is one of the most reputable and cost effective for injectors, stock size or upgraded.....That's what will be going in my 05 Harley Truck....

Question Hard to start & rough ideling when cold.

I just ordered the o-rings for my truck. My buddy's dad is a KW mechanic and he said this is the most common issue that causes rough cold starts. He said it could also be the FICM or the Injectors, but to start with the o-rings as they are the most "cost effective" option....

    Auto hubs

They should engage almost immediately when the truck is shifted into 4wd. You might check the vacuum lines going to the hubs, the solenoid that actually puts vacuum on them (front passenger inner fender) or the hub seals.

    Need some help

    circumference of tire = pi*Diameter = 125.67"/12" = 10.47'/rotation. 5280'/mile divided by 10.47' per rotation = 504.3 revolutions per mile.

    Suspension lift/fix

I agree. Replacement of OEM is always a good plan. Tires, for example are going to run you 3-500 each for a 37.....believe me, I'm painfully aware. It also severely limits your ability to pull 5th wheels/goosenecks. IMO, if you're going to lift it, go with a reputable manufacturer such...

I ended up ordering two EGR delete kits from River City Diesel this morning....looks like it's going to be a weekend of hard work on Dad's and my trucks!

I'm excited to hear what happens with the EGR delete. That's the next step on my truck as it's well out of warranty and I'm tired of dealing with the valve!

Fixing up truck - need help

Sounds like a good plan of attack. You might look into glow plugs and injectors as well. That way you don't have to worry about them for a good long while. Also, clean up the turbo according to the Diesel Technicians' Site. Make sure to check out the bearings/wearable parts while you're there...

    Front Hubs Seal Replacement

Metalhead, I have a set of Brand new OEM hub seals and o-rings at the house that I ordered before I found that my actuator was bad. PM me or email me and I'll cut you a deal on them if you want. Thanks, Rusty

    05 6l missing when cold

If it lasts any longer than about 30 seconds, typically you have an injector or two that is "gummed up" on the mechanical end. These need to be replaced if that's the case. If under 30 seconds, it's typically just the fact that the beast is cold....I had this issue and my Ford Mechanic replaced...

    Question 4x4 not working 6.0

That's what mine is. Vac leaks are a problem, especially after a few miles on the trucks. I think mine's in the hub seals now though....that one's going to hurt the pocketbook!

Picked up a new toy, but have a question!

Thanks parttime. The conversion is fairly straightforward. We're doing it on a 2000 this coming weekend I believe.

LOL! Sure why not Stephen! It's getting a new Ford Oval this afternoon too, so that's an added bonus! Not even one that's delaminated!

    Glow Plugs

Did they test out bad, Bama? It's my understanding that they are under the valve covers as well. Looks like I may have to have my dieseltech take a peek at mine as well. They're not giving me a warm and fuzzy feeling by any means.

Picked up a new toy, but have a question!

It is a bit sluggish to start every now and again, so I suppose that could be part of the issue. Hmm, maybe batteries are needed. I know Dad's isn't batteries though because I just put new ones in his!
