    Which programer

Lol... true... I was actually going to ask to see if anyone had seen a new article about the programmers. I saw the shootout one, and that's fine, and like 2 years old, but I haven't seen anything concrete on Banks, or anything else... other than sales brochures and opinions. That and some new...

    Block heater on 05 PSD

I've had mine outside from day 1... haven't plugged it in yet and it has always fired on the first shot. Granted it's made some weird noises and a little cloud of black smoke for a second, but she's never failed to start. Lowest it's been is -15...

    think I'm losing my mind

Uh... okay... I think there was a service bulletin about chaffed wire harnesses somewhere. It only shows up on a turn basically because it's shorting something out someplace...

The end of summer off road driving?

This probably won't be any worse than a gasser with a cat on it. Don't forget that peak heat is going to happen under full load, and I doubt you're gonna find that crawling around a trail. If it goes into regen while parked maybe, but I'd think a quick blip of the ignition key would solve that...

    New 6.4 PSD outpulls 6.6 Duramax/5.9 Cummins

Probably the best way to get power is to take that soot trap cat thing off, it starts at the last turbo and ends under the passenger seat frame. That alone has to be worth something. From what I learned talking to a detroit diesel engineer, the engine is probably tuned back the way they used to...

    Turbo questions

Teflon Turbo? Now there's an idea... too bad it wouldn't put up with the 1250F peak temperatures...

    Check this out

not real worried about starup lubrication on the turbo, because there isn't any heat there, and the thin film that's there is just fine for the 5 seconds it takes to build oil pressure. On shut down, like was said above, you idle for a minute of two, and all is well.

    symptoms of today

Not to further complicate matters, but what are the odds of a sensor on the feed side? I don't really know what sensor malfunction would make the fuel burn blue, but... Go teh next step, it seems to be fairly consistent, ie, no blue pulses, meaning it's not one cylinder going bonkers. Oil leak...

    cold weather psi...

boat load more power, figure that the intake temperature is that much lower meaning more fuel with the increased density of the air. I have a hard time getting more than 20 PSI, with it cold, I usually have to turn the heater blower down, but when it decides to peg the meter, hang on...

is it worth changing oil brands?

By the way... what oil are you getting from Mobil that is synthetic, and rated for diesel service? I've looked, but can't find any that meets the CI+ or J rating...

is it worth changing oil brands?

115 an oil change? Yikes... I have about 60 in the syn rotella, and 10-20 in the filter depending on which one I use...

    coolant???

-15 shouldn't be cold enough to freeze that coolant. You might be seeing a combination of condensation and rust from the pipe itself. You seeing any drop in coolant level?

I'd be curious about the fuel you're running... Same place every time?

    Interesting Reading

Yeah, I agree... I would have parked that thing at the dealership with a giant lemon on the side. I know you need it as a work machine, but for as often as it's been in the shop, you haven't been able to do much work with it....

    trying to be the messanger!!

I think he's trying to figure out whether the bolt stretch is an issue, or a scapegoat. Once you've got leakage it's a moot point. Unfortunately, I couldn't tell you. Now, here's an interesting question: The new 6.4 is basically a bored and stroked 6.0, right? If this is correct, then this new...

    More Diesel Woes for Ford?

Cat's closest offering for the PU world would have to have been the old 3208 Engine... nothing all that terribly exciting, and not majorly rebuildable. We have one in our one tanker, but it's okay. I heard that some point in time back in the early mid 90's that someone put a 3208 into a F Super...

    TowBoss Badge

Obviously must have been a former Chevy owner... They're real good at product insecurity... Go look at a GM and count how many places that stupid bowtie shows up, and then go look at a Ford. 'nuff said...

    Air filter monitor

You're not hearing the air, you're actually hearing the turbine rotor slowing down to a stop. It makes the same noise while running, just that the engine makes so much noise you can't hear it. Perfectly normal.

    2008 Superduty Order Guide

Yeah really... one year it's there, one year it's not, then it's back... Man... God bless you guys getting the first generation 6.4... Not that I want to see any problems, but Mr. Murphy is a big pain....

2008 Super Duty straight from the Ford Site

I'm not really impressed by the front end... Then again I didn't care for the factory grill on mine, which is why I stuck an '05 Harley grill on it. I think for as tall and wide as it is, that thing will attrack stone chips like flies on... chevy... Anyway, I think a more fine, thinner framed...

    navigation radio

I'd go along with the factory look until I changed the speakers in mine. I put in some decent Pioneers... turned it up, sounded better, but really muddy. Went and put my Alpine in that I had in my merc, I damn near cried when I figured out how much clearer it was! I went like 3 months before...
