    Not really... it really shouldn't engage hard enough to really jolt you. Unless you did some tranny work, it's not going to come on hard enough to clear stuff off the dash. If you're getting that, I'd suspect something's not happy, like a clutch pack or a solenoid sticking and not fully pulling...
