    Power Steering Pump Identification

That looks identical to the one I have but they want over $100 to ship it to Alaska  Now that I have an idea what the one I have is I should be able to match it up at the local parts house. I am going to change the pump first and see if that makes the one I have work(no power at all right...

    Project GPW

Mine is not stock motor but it is very low horsepower - 90hp as where the stock engine was 60hp. I am repairing the stock differential housings and putting in new Omix-Ada axles and hope that 18 years of wisdom has taught me how to have a bit more throttle control and not destroy them again. In...

    The new 13 inch MacBook

Update I have had the MacBook for a month now and I must say I really like it. I kick the old PC every-time I walk by it. I did install Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac but other than that I am Microsoft free. Once you get use to operating the mac it is very user friendly. Anything I want to do...

    Power Steering Pump Identification

Yeper. They list those on the Schucks website for that part number and the picture looks to be the same as mine. Measurements would help. Just some random ones should do it. Like shaft diameters, bolt pattern measurement and things like that. Seems like they would cast a part number in the box...

    Power Steering Pump Identification

I don't think it is that big ? The output shaft is tiny. It would be great if it was as I need a drop pitman arm for it. The new looking black one I posted a picture of is for a 1967 Chevy II. It would be smaller than a truck box right? The one in post #9 fits: Cardone Steering Gear Box...

    Project GPW

I purchased a 1942 Ford GPW around 1990. It had a few modifications to it back then but we started having kids in 1992 so it got put on the back burner. It has been sitting in Oregon since I moved up here in 1994. My step-dad hauled it up here for me in 2004 and I have finally got started on it...

Help Needed 97 ran out of fuel

Filling the fuel bowl will help a little. If it is a manual transmission pull starting it will save the starter and batteries.

    Can't log in to chatroom.

I just tried it and it worked although it shows that there are a bunch of people in there. They are either tight lipped or not really there. We will see if the Admin can look into it.

    Power Steering Pump Identification

I need to get a new Power Steering pump for my 42' GPW but the GPW did not come from the factory with power steering. I suppose there may be numbers on it if I pull it? I do have this picture. Look familiar to anyone? I also need a steering box but can't find any numbers on it, just a big S...

    GM Engine identification

Ok I found some pictures on the net of a Vega engine and we can rule that out. I also found some pictures of Chevy II engines and it appears that Dave is correct :sweet Now if I can figure out what year. Looks like they were offered from 1962 until 1970. Looking at parts online it does appear...

    GM Engine identification

Would things like a water pump, distibutor cap and other exterior parts be the same on the Chevy II and a early Chevy Vega engine? I changed out a few things back in the early 90's and I am about sure I was buying parts for a Vega :dizzy I wish I had kept better records back then.

    GM Engine identification

I think it is a 140 ci out of a early 70's vega but I am now second guessing myself. If stinks when you get old and can't remember anything. I contacted five dealers and they are all clueless. I know they gave me the information 20 years ago from the serial number but parts guys today ain't...

    Mobil 1 5w/40 Users.....

I use Mobil 1 5w/40 but I change it every 5000 miles. I am not a fan of extended oil change intervals. I figure if I am good to my engine it will be good to me :D I run the 5w/40 for cold weather performance. :welcome1 to the site

    GM Engine identification

I have a 4cl GM engine in my old 42' GPW. I somehow forgot what the heck it is (crs). I was thinking it was out of a old Vega but for a few various reasons I am now questioning my memory. I know 20 years ago I took the engine serial number to my local dealer and they told me exactly what it was...

    comment Battery Life

I will let you know when they die. I have the origonal batterys out of my 96' in my 75' - not sure why I changed them out  Also still have the original battery in our 95' Explorer and 05' F150. I did put a new battery in my 42' GPW the other day as it was a little weak ;)
