    I guess I Lied ? Maybe ?

Congratulations, Big Joe. I was examining options a couple of months back when the Beast's EGR cooler bit the big one, I must admit I looked long and hard at a new truck, but I couldn't justify an $800 a month truck payment. That, and I couldn't really part with the Beast. With new head studs...

    Exhaust kit

Perhaps a new 4" MBRP exhaust? My new exhaust came with a nice looking bolt on tip, but my truck has a 6.0. It does keep the cat, and the 6.4 exhaust kit keeps the DPF.

    Scan Gauge II

I put my ScanGauge II below the rear view mirror with a BlendMount. It's the greatest thing since sliced bread, and puts the ScanGauge right where you can see it. About $50 with shipping. BlendMount Select the "Products" in the upper right of the menu on their web page to get to the ScanGauge II...

    Pic of clogged Oil Cooler

Mine looked about the same. The EGR cooler was clogged up, too. The EGR cooler went back to Sinister Diesel as a core. The oil cooler went to the scrap heap.

I know I don't want to hear the answer, but give it to me anyway

Will do. The 6.0 grin has returned to my face, and the gnawing fear that something will fail or break loose on the engine has dissipated. Things could have been much worse, and I know I was lucky. Poorer perhaps, but lucky. Happiness was getting the truck out on I-24, putting the pedal to the...

I know I don't want to hear the answer, but give it to me anyway

A simple fix got me back on the road. The EGR valve was stuck closed. The shop cleaned it in the original repair, but after a few days, the valve stuck and wouldn't move. The repair wasn't that expensive, the truck did run a bit rough for the first few miles but then smoothed out and ran fine...

I know I don't want to hear the answer, but give it to me anyway

The truck went to the shop on a flatbed this afternoon. Will report back with results as soon as I get them.

I know I don't want to hear the answer, but give it to me anyway

Not had it scanned since the repair. Pre-repair scan indicated four injectors only contributing 50 percent. Nearest Ford dealer with a diesel tech is an hour away.

I know I don't want to hear the answer, but give it to me anyway

    1. I had a new blue spring put in. 2. No codes show up on the ScanGauge II. 3. Won't run hot or cold. 4. New fuel filters were put in, as were new oil and coolant filters. 5. FICM was untouched. I picked up the truck on Tuesday, it ran great through Friday. I go to start it to go to church and...

I know I don't want to hear the answer, but give it to me anyway

Round two... The truck won't start this morning. It seems like the engine is getting too much fuel or not enough air. It will start, stumble, then quit. I can't get it to go above idle. All the repair costs have cleaned my bank account out. Any ideas as to what might be happening now?

I know I don't want to hear the answer, but give it to me anyway

My truck is all fixed, and it runs better than it has ever run, the fuel economy is back, and all of the goodies I wanted to install are on the truck. Thanks to the guys at The Diesel Shop in Manchester, Tennessee. The only downside is I almost had the truck paid off, now I have another three...

    Bad Injector..... Again

I went with injectors from Pensacola Diesel. I got a whole OEM reman set, with new glow plugs and gaskets for less than $1700. If you want their house brand the same package runs about $200 cheaper. Believe me, I feel your pain. I had to take all of the equity on my truck to pay for my...

I know I don't want to hear the answer, but give it to me anyway

I put in a DieselSite coolant filter a year ago, if I had done that a few years earlier I no doubt wouldn't be spending all the money I'm spending now. Bob Riley gets some more of my money as I am putting one of his transmission fluid filters on, as I have little faith in the toilet paper filter...

    Glow Plug Harness R&R

The first thing the diesel tech that is fixing my truck asked me to add to my parts buy list was a glow plug harness for both sides. He told me that he occasionally breaks the connectors even when using the proper tools to remove them.

I know I don't want to hear the answer, but give it to me anyway

The additional work meant additional money, which meant talking to my credit union. They came through for me. So, this is what is being done to my truck now: Replacing the EGR cooler with a new Sinister Diesel EGR cooler New Ford OEM oil cooler Black Onyx head gaskets ARP head studs...

I know I don't want to hear the answer, but give it to me anyway

Original injectors, with 140,000 miles on them. The only problem I had with the truck was when it was cold, it ran like crap until it warmed up. I did get a load of bad fuel which triggered the WIF warning, I dumped the water separator and changed the fuel filters a few months ago, I ran some...

I know I don't want to hear the answer, but give it to me anyway

Well, Tim at The Diesel Shop called with good news and bad news today. The good news is that I didn't bend anything. As we suspected, the EGR cooler and the oil cooler were toast. But to add to my woes, four injectors are only putting out 50 percent. He gave me a choice of moving the good...

    Battery Voltages

Bad batteries. Ditch the Bosch batteries and go with the OEM Motorcrafts. That's all I put in my truck, no worries. O'Reilly's sells them at a better price than the stealership.

    FICM tuner

12 volts with no load is too low. Practically marginal in fact. A normal "12 volt" system is actually closer to 14 volts when the alternator is running. I think your batteries are on the way out. Load test them and if they are bad, replace them in pairs.

Pulled the trigger on new truck!

Good deal on the truck! The Line-X is a good deal, everything else from fabric protection to paint protection is bogus. It's "installed" by the flunkies at the dealership who you wouldn't trust to change your oil, much less do anything else. You got your truck for about $2K more than I paid for...

Biggest Fuel killer for a RV lets list it.

I thought about doing that for a few minutes when the Blue Beast's EGR cooler went tango uniform. Thankfully I don't think I bent anything, as I drove it back home and parked it but the EGR cooler is obviously leaking because the engine is now hydro locked. But even with X plan pricing I would...

I know I don't want to hear the answer, but give it to me anyway

Today I met with Tim at The Diesel Shop in Manchester, TN. He agrees with the assessment that I suffered a EGR cooler failure. He did recommend an EGR delete at first, but considering the neighboring county to me requires emission testing and such testing may be on the way for my home county, he...

I know I don't want to hear the answer, but give it to me anyway

No puking, the degas bottle was nearly dry when I checked it after I stopped the truck at Walmart. It gave a high engine temperature message on the center display, the Scangauge said the coolant temp was 245 degrees, but after I parked it and had it idle, it went right back down to 195. I...
