Things to do while R/R'ing ball joints?

Warning--Dumb question incoming: I have never bothered to learn very much about steering linkages, but am I correct in assuming that the tie rod ends attach to the ball joints which are then attached to the steering knuckles?

Things to do while R/R'ing ball joints?

I've been chasing a vibration lately and while there's a pretty good chance it's warped rotors (I know they're a warped, but the vibration is all the time not just when I'm braking), I've been thinking about R/R'ing the ball joints to see if that isn't the problem. I'm wondering if there are...

    Any exterminators here?

Maggie and I are dressing up as Hank an Peggy Hill for Halloween this year. She's had to do quite a bit of shopping for costume bits but for me it's easy since my costume will consist of a white t-shirt, jeans, and a beer. I think I can handle that...;)

    Any exterminators here?

I used to be in a poker game with a guy who, especially after I bought him an orange "Mack" hat, looked just like Dale Gribble.

    18” M/T Load Range E Tires

I don't mind the lug pattern since, IMO, THESE rims would look oh-so-spiffy on my truck, but finding hub-centric (vs. the much more common lug-centric) 8 x 170mm wheels is pretty tough.

    Any exterminators here?

No, I'm not looking for a Dale Gribble type--I have a legit question. I'm writing a paper for my Physiology class on organophosphate poisoning and need a reference source from a legitimate professional or peer-reviewed journal (no, Wikipedia et. al. doesn't count) and of the New England Journal...

    ? re: the Fumoto valve

No worries--I was asking for it. FWIW, I DID do a search but couldn't turn up the particular factoid I was looking for.;)

    ? re: the Fumoto valve

I didn't know, so that's why I asked. If the amount that doesn't get drained really is negligeable, I'll leave the valve as-is when I order it.

    Best year model SD 7.3L?

Maybe it's not a problem for most folks, but if you're looking at a 7.3 (even the newest of which are 5+ years old now), why not look back another year or two and get a PSD that can handle the power that all but the very-most-depraved HP nuts will throw at it?

    ? re: the Fumoto valve

For those of you using a Fumoto valve, how far (if at all) does the threaded part of the valve stick up inside the pan? I was thinking that if it sticks up, say, 1/4" higher than the base of the pan, that's 1/4" of old, dirty oil that won't drain out and will keep circulating but if I'm wrong...

    New Exterior Lighting MODS Complete

They're also not DOT-legal and in 'Bama's line of work, I would think that staying on the good side of the highway 5-0 is a good idea.

    Best year model SD 7.3L?

I'd take a look at a 2000 since that's the last year, IIRC, that came stock with forged connecting rods. If the truck isn't going to stay stock, you can put more power safely through forged rods vs. the PMRs that, again IIRC, started being phased in the in the 2001 MY.

    08 Tailgate Without The Step?

That might not be a big deal depending on how careful the forklift driver is. If they decide to get the pallet up just-barely-high-enough to clear the tailgate and the scrape it into the bed, then sure, the mechanism would get torn up but if they lift the forks two or three inches higher, get...

    When to use anti-gel additive???

The only time I've ever had fuel gel, it was ambient ~ -20° and ~-30° or so with the wind chill. I don't want to even think about the witches' brew of additives I was running up in Minot when it got to -60°--I suspect the tank was more additive than fuel in those conditions...
