    I have an AccessCover (link in sig) that stays on my truck all the time and it's quite the cat's azz. I gained just a tick over 1/2 mpg (hand calculated, on-highway mileage) with it on and it does a great job of keeping stuff in the bed dry so long as you put some weatherstrip down at the front...

    IMO your water pump has gone T.U. R/R'ing a water pump isn't that bad, provided that you have the right tool to remove the (reverse-threaded) fan clutch.
