    Unless you get an Oil analysis you won't be able to detect most contaminants in your motor's oil. Oil analysis is cheap insurance. I do a sample at every oil change.

    ALL internal combustion engines will burn a little oil. I would be worried if my motor didn't burn any oil after say 5000 miles. I'm losing about an 1/8 of a quart between oil changes... Once a week. Oye! Once a week for my truck is like 4000-5000 miles for most of your guys' trucks though.

    Mine's Pre Turbo, driver's side, right before the manifold goes up to the turbo. Right now it's showing 330F Most I've seen in a LONG time is a little over 1100. Ambient temp is in the low 10's though.
