just in from under the hood/truck

you should unload (jack-up) the front end to check bushings and bearings. Weight on it can "pull" both wheels out ward taking up all the "slop" your checking for (if there is any) put both ende of the axle on jackstands and shake away:) on the leaf spring thing, they are rated at different...

    stupid question- warm up temp

She'll move if I ask her too ;) I guess it's the oil to the turbo that I'm concerned about... so it has enough lubricicity at anything over say 30 degrees?

    stupid question- warm up temp

I've read all over the place not to build boost on a cold engine. I understand this part, but where is the line for "cold" vs "not cold" on a 6.0? Is this typically "operating temp" or something like 50-60 degrees out. I work back in a canyon, and have to pull a relatively steep 1/2 mile or so...

    Rhino spray in liner

it's the UV that causes fading, not so much the heat... sometimes the UV index is higher on cool overcast days than hot clear days.. Todays liners have a pretty tough UV blocker in them, so comparing it to one sprayed 5 years ago isn't really accurate. A good wax might prevent fading, but...

    Direct TV/ Dish Network

directv here for almost 5 years.. HD package. The TV and connections makes all the difference for HD, but in general directv has a visibly better picture than dish HD. as for which is right for you? talk to people in your area or drive around and count dishes on rooftops... whats good in one...

    tranny fluid and carpet

I know it's not the same, but WD-40 got the tar and asphalt out of my tan carpet. Might try a sample spot to see if it'll break down the T fluid...but I doubt it... maybe bleach and re color dye? I'm just thinking out loud here...

    Snow Towing

Well, I guess we'll never know how it worked out. I broke my heel and will not be going:( I'm on the couch for 6-8weeks. I can't even keep it down long enough to hop a plane and meet them up there, it swells up and tries to bust out of my cast. :nono: I will post when/if I get to snow tow in...

    4x4 clunk Question

if the RPMs jump and remain higher than they started as it bangs, then it's downshifting... otherwise it could be driveline wrap up and is a normal occurance in 4 wheel drive. the othe posibility is just all the "slack" like said above, but is likely a combination of all the slack, R&Ps, T-case...

    Guns & Ammo

If you're not "set" on the .303, Big 5 Sporting goods stores sell the Enfields rechambered in .308 for $89 all day long here in Ca. Do they have any stores in Texas? If you go with the .303, make sure to clean the rifle when done shooting, don't put it away dirty, as a lot of "surplus" is...

    I JUST KILLED MY TRANNY!!!!

4wd on pavement is always hard on a vehicle (not talking AWD, or vehicles with viscous couplings in the X-case, etc) basically you're trying to get all 4 wheels to spin at exactly the same speed. The problem lies basically with the fact that the front wheels turn (steer). Once they deviate from...

    Bed Liners

Depends on what you're doing with it. Line-X is the hardest one out there that I know of. great for trucks with open bed and exposed to the elements in truck beds that actually get used. Rhino is one of the softest I think, and more sutable for something that is covered, for example a tonnoe...

HELP: Blown Front Sway Bar Bushing

I missed this post the first time around, but for anyone checking this thread in the future, the easiest way to get the old bushings out is with a torch. Just light 'em up and watch 'em melt right out. I usually do it over a steel bucket filled halfway with water, that way when the rubber drips...

    Rearend Noise

sonds like Ford clutch chatter to me. Did you use the friction modifier right from the get go, or di you just add it when you mentioned above that changed the fluid and tried it? If you ran 2 or 3 K without it in "freeway conditions" without it, you likely glazed the clutches. They should clean...

    exploded rear end??

time to get a lawyer, the "different tire brand" is a line of BS. They can dictate a size, but not a manufacturer. Whats next? you can only buy fuel from Shell?? they won't remove caprpet stains from pepsi but not coke?? :usa
