    WTF was Ford thinking?

so I rewired my car trailer with all LEDs and added rev lights. I apparently "pinched" a wire in the process on one of the running lights. I blew the running light fuse under the dash, no big deal. I fix the pinch and replace the fuse. I go to start the truck and it's normal for about 1/2 sec...

Class V 2.5" locking hitch pin

I'm not sure it gets much clearer than me telling you to go start your own debate thread on pbb, and I'm looking for a locking pin not a bolt. there now I've typed it twice.

    crabbing front end

in the "off highway world" Warns are the only way to go. I have personally broke (grenaded) Spicers, Mile Markers, and selectro's all playing in the mud. I've seen Superwinch hubs grenade on a buddies truck in some very mild rock crawling.... I blew one set of warns in the mud, but I also broke...

Class V 2.5" locking hitch pin

9 times out of 10 made in the USA is better. Better material, and better tolerances. I'm a prototype machinist / metal fabricator. I see chinese metal products fail all the time, running side by side with USA products. Besides, I won't knowingly support communism unless I have to ;)

Class V 2.5" locking hitch pin

I had that one (set) in my hand yesterday at the RV store, but the plating looked cheap and it was made in china... I still can't get over how hard it is to find a decent locking pin made in the USA:(

Class V 2.5" locking hitch pin

I'm not stranger to the "barrel lock" style. I don't mind it and actually prefer it as it clears the safety hooks easier for a couple of my trailers. I sent an e-mail off to them late last night asking where they were made. I'm guessing china by the grammatical errors on the page (like the Ford...

Class V 2.5" locking hitch pin

What are y'all running in the way of locking pins for the 2.5" receivers? I prefer NOT to buy chinese if I can help it. and I bumper pull a 12K load so I need a pin that is actually up to the task... I do not want to swap out the lock for the pin when I roll and then back again when I park for...

    legal weight

It's sad that most people don't even realize that their trailer may not have come properly equipped tire wise from the factory for the maximum load rating. Worse yet is people buying used with no idea that the previous owner put on the cheapest car tires he could find in that size :(

    legal weight

RV's don't have a "licensing weight", but they (and all vehicles on the road) have a GVWR by the manufacturer as the maximum the trailer and cargo can weigh.. If you are pulled over and the officer thinks you are overweight he can scale you right there on the spot with the portables and force...

    legal weight

exempt from what? from the scales maybe, but not from being rated to carry a certain loaded capacity.

    legal weight

huh? I thought every single vehicle on the road has to have a GVWR and/or GCWR? got any more info on what you're talking about?

    flood!!

as a temp solution would digging a hole at the entry point to your property and running a float activated sump pump and hose to run it to the other side of your property be worth it? or would it just freeze overnight and not thaw enough to flow during the day?
  16. Yellowsub1962

    legal weight

take the GCWR on the truck and take off the total weight of your rig (with all gear, cargo, people and fluids) and the dry weight of your trailer. whats left is how much you can put on the trailer. Like said, make sure you are tagged through motor vehicles for the total weight you're hauling...

Priming a diesel that has run out of fuel.

a lot of elec fuel pumps are NOT self priming. basically by pressurizing the tank then cycling the key once or twice will force fulel into the pump and it will then be able to pressurize the lines with a few key cycles. I've been doing this on my Willys (TPI 383 stroker) for years out on the...

Anyone ACTUALLY HAVE a NON commercial Class A license in CA?

Thanks for the reply NP, but I know all that already, better than over half the DMV people I spoke to, some of which are in the main office in Sacramento, and a few supervisors to boot. I already have my permit. I just need to take the driving test "in the type of vehicle I wish to tow". But I...

Anyone ACTUALLY HAVE a NON commercial Class A license in CA?

I would like to know what reference is attached to your license and what forms you had to sign stating what you were going to pull and what type of vehicle/trailer you tested in. I've got my permit but the 20+ DMV and CHP people have given me 30 different answers to my questions of what I need...

    Brake controller question

I have an '06 350 tow boss and I do not get any audible indications when touching the brakes. On one trailer I tow there is a bad ground so if I'm on a rough patch of road I will get the "trailer disconnected" message and an audible tone occasionally, but thats the only tone I get regarding...

rear doors dont unlock after ignition off?

actually I have to shoulder check the drivers door of my Willys from the inside to get out, and pull the Jeepster door up and out while hitting it from the outside to get it to open :lmao maybe kicking it will work :D

rear doors dont unlock after ignition off?

06 crew cab, is there a way to get the rear doors to unlock like the front when I turn the ignition off...I'm usually out of the truck by the time the rear passengers remind me they can't get out :D I looked through the dash computer when I irst got it, but could have missed it... I'm now having...
