    Latest Oil Analysis..............

I just sent off my first sample to blackstone ever. 3800 miles on Delo 400 and a FoMoCo filter. Im trying something different in the oil filter Dept, so need to get a baseline. How long does it take from the time you dop it in the mail, until you get an Email back?

    Maybe Trans problem

Yes, a new TC would make the rattle go away. Ford has a TSB for this exact problem, and the "solution" is to replace the TC.

Need more info on the 450C VIAIR

I think I paid 200-ish for my 550c. Twice the compressor for the same price! Ebay, but I think the guy that posted it screwed up. oh well, I wont. Shipped direct from viair.

Need more info on the 450C VIAIR

My tank has 8 1/2" ports. I used all but 2 I think. 1 for the viar pressure switch, 1 for my tank pressure sending unit for the gauge, one for airhorns, one for the airbags, and for the quick disconnect for filling tires, and one for FILL. I havent found a "drain" I like, but I still have...

    QuickAir3 or Viair 400P ?

You know, that might not be a bad idea. Get yourself one of them portable 5-gallon air tanks, and while you changing/fixing the tire, you could have the compressor hooked to the tank and charge the tank (if its low). I know a lot of guys are using CO2 tanks, and nitrogen tanks also. Just have...

    QuickAir3 or Viair 400P ?

The viairs are nice because they dont draw more than about 30 amps. The OASIS (not portable, but still electric) use start motors and can draw close to 200 amps. I have the 550c hardmounted under the hood and a 5-gal tank kept at 125psi. I could prolly refill a tire to 70psi in about 5...

    IDM mod???

I was keeping things simple. Yes, in fact the IDM *IS* mostly SMCs, and yes they are a pain to solder/desolder, but when you have the tools, the skill, and the patience, its not hard at all. I guess all those year of highschool and college electronics were a waste tho, and maybe I should have...

    Trans temp sensor leaking.

They LOOK a lot like a flasher, and in fact work in much the same way, but instead of cycling on and off, they just STAY on.

    Trans temp sensor leaking.

Glad you finally found a parts store that knew what a RELAY was!!!

    Trans temp sensor leaking.

I used liquid teflon on my sender, but yes, the tape works just as well. In fact, sometimes the tape works better than the liquid stuff!!

    IDM mod???

Surface mount as in soldering (and not very much either), and its supposed to be a really tiny part. Those that have seen the mod done, or know where to look all say its a small part, but thats really in the eye of the beer holder as to what is "small".

    IDM mod???

A user named Joe Servo on the diesel stop came up with it. It involves opening up your IDM, changing ONE surface mount transistor, and that bumps the output voltage to 140volts, instead of the factory 110v. His current prices are somewhere in the 300+ range for a 2 cent part and maybe 15 mins...

OBDII Automotive Scan Tool and Virtual Dashboard

I have the AutoEnginuity. Little more expensive, but it has ALL the ford/international "special" codes that some OBD-II readers cant get to. Keep in mind that the older fords are not as easy to work with than the newer 99+ trucks. The OBD was still pretty new for trucks then.

    Starting a WIKI article

No, I dont believe you can. What I do, is write it up in like "word" or "notepad" on my computer, copy and paste it into the new WIKI page, then go back and "format" it with the special format codes like ! for bold, and * for list, etc etc. Pics are easily embedded, but you should upload...

Stolen PSD in-truck Camera - Police bait car

The Canadian providence of British Columbia, just north of Washinton state is using what is called a "Bait Car" program. A highly prized theft vehicle (in this case, a powerstroke diesel) is placed in a high crime area, with a camera inside, and the cops sit and wait for it to get stolen...

    Air bags

Initially, I just used the schrader valves. Most guys use the lower license plate screw holes to put the valves. I let mine hang under the truck because I knew I was going to put in an air compressor system. There is also a small hole on each of of the bumper, kinda underneath the lip, and thats...

    Air bags

He has a dually, so he cannot use the regular Firestone ride-rites that the single wheel guys use. What happens is, the inner dually tire will rub a hole in the airbags. A guy on TDS just posted this EXACT scenario the other day. HOWEVER!! Firestone sells the ride-rites in a "dually...

    Tranny upgrade

There *ARE* other parts inside the tranny that can fail, but a good TC, and some form of valvebody or the tugger kit, and some good synthetic, and I've read you should be good into the low/mid 300hp mark before needing to really tear into the tranny. I figure, if you can AFFORD 400hp, then...

    max a/c question

Just cap the vacuum tee and im back with heat. Dont need it switched down here. Too hot. They sell an electric vacuum switch that allows you to turn the mod on and off in the cab via a switch. There is a couple of ways to rig this mod up.

    max a/c question

There are a couple of vacuum lines you can tie into. Im using the one that comes out of the vacuum bottle under the hood. Its ALWAYS on, so my heatercore is 100% turned OFF at all times. www.forgotton.net/diesel/heaterbypass/index.htm That link has the parts and pictures of the do it...
