    Turbo Timers

    A turbo timer keeps the engine running for a little while after turning the key off. It helps cool down the turbo before everything shuts off. My truck has a remote start from the factory. I can set it to run for 5, and 10, or 15 minutes before it turns off by itself.

    So it seems that getting a turbo timer for these trucks is a good idea. What timers are you guys running? I'm guessing it has to be tapped into the ignition circuit to work correctly. A thought I had, and I'm sure this will show how much of a newb I am, is using the remote start as a timer...

    oil

    You are correct, this is my first diesel. I use Motorcraft oil in everything we have. Even the boat has Motorcraft in it. I'm just wanting to get the maintenance right so it lasts a long time. I'm planning on keeping this one for a very long time.

    Ok. I'll have to give it a shot. I learned I have to wait 1000 miles before hooking my boat up. And I was going to head to Az in a couple weeks. So much for that.

    Mine is my daily/family hauler. It must've been the 6.4 I was reading about as far as cutting the oil change interval change short. I remember reading something about the extra fuel getting into the oil.

    Are you guys going the full 7500 or 10k miles (can't remember what the owners manual said) between oil changes? I remember reading somewhere to change it at 5k because of the regen, but that may have been for the 6.4.
