Getting ready for a 3K mile tow w/ 5th wheel

Does anybody think the shimmy could be from old rear end fluid? I think it might be and it would be cheao insurance to change it to the fresh fluid of your choice before the move. Just a thought.

    Oil for 2006 6.0

Amsoil just lowered their prices by approx 1.20 per gallon on most oils. Pricing it with me won't cost anything. Probably a good idea to not go as far as the oil change place says with your 6.0L. I have learned depending on your driving conditions even with synthetic you may want to stay...

    Best oil for 6.4

Come on Bob I thought it was pretty good. I really didn't go into a whole disertation on the oils and fill the post with links to the Amsoil site like some guys do who don't really know enough about the oils to talk about them so they just provide links. I made him aware that I am here...

    Best oil for 6.4

I can only help you with a full synthetic oil and filter that would be shipped to your door for a very reasonable cost for synthetics.

FYI Motorcraft Synthetic 5W-40 Engine Oil

Jetpilot whats your thoughts on this? I talked to a hydraulics engineer who is quite knowledgable in automotive oils and has experience with thousands of UOA reports. He says that the 6.0L will shear 40W oil down to 30W then it tapers off. He said that the shearing could be reduced by using...

Question rotella 5-40 synthetic for 100 degree tx summer?

Its typical to see mpg improvments with a change to synthetics especially if you are changing the entire drive train over. With an engine change only it is typical to have approx 3-5% increase. At 5% that amounts to .5 mpg based on a 16 mpg prior to changing to synthetic. That would get you 24...

    Trans Questions

Correct it is no more slippery but it has perfect molicules which are smooth rather than jagged in a conventional oil and that is why synthetic creates less friction which means lower running temps due to less friction as well as better wear properties due to less friction. :dunno

I want to add one thing to this conversation and that is the new CJ-4 rated Oils from Amsoil went through a 90 pass test under pressure and then were shear tested. They were tested with Valvoline Blue, Shell Rotella, Dello, and another brand I can't remember and the formula after 90 passes...

FYI Filters: Micron Ratings What Are They?

Yes Absolute and Beta Ratios will not be listed on the box. Lets start a thread with this information. Call your filter mfg and ask the info and post it here and I will compile it into a single post for all to see. I will do the same with the Amsoil Branded filters and we can help everyone out...

FYI Motorcraft Synthetic 5W-40 Engine Oil

Thats very good information Jet thank you for posting that. I learned something today. I guess all you 6.0L people better start pricing bypass systems! :D My cost is your cost on the bypass units. So what do they recommend for OCI on the 6.0L? Can one change the filter more often to keep...

Jetpilot I will do some research and get back to you on this. I disagree with a few points in your post but before I open my mouth and give bad info to the readers I will confirm with some sources and repost when I get that info. ;tu All of Amsoils oils have extended oil change intervals...
