Thanx roy! Getting a nice 4" cowl induction hood for the pontiac fir myself. Only hoods i could find are fiberglass,nobody makes a steel cowl hood yet.hood is about 700.00 and 100-200.00 to ship it.joined a forum for these cars and found a good used one for 200 bux delivered! If the high performance 4.1 V6 with a 4barrel carb on it will spin the tires,theyll be bald the first week the car gets registered. The v8 swap isnt happening till winter.figured it would be a good idea to try keeping my license for a couple months. Tomorrow is license day!- 94f450sd

Ya i know.i figured it would be ok since i didnt take the pump apart.not a big deal here.used a whole bottle of assembly lube on the bearings and only ran low idle for about 45 seconds.- 94f450sd

Dropped the motor back in yesterday.had a liitle no oil pressure scare.pulled the distributor and spun the pump with a drill till it built pressure.fired it up with oil pressure.the lifter ticks its had since we got it have all gone away.no more ticks or knocks.no more flickering oil light...- 94f450sd

Oh no the 400 wont be stock.a friend gave me a 400 that was rebuilt,bored .030 over that someone left water in it over the winter,sadly it froze and cracked the block.they then took it apart to let the cylinders rust up.i stripped it down yesterday for the pistons,rods,crank and cam.just need to...- 94f450sd

I decided to keep the v6 for the summer.i pulled the motor yesterday to replace the crankshaft,rod and main bearings,clean the nylon timing gear teeth out of the pan and oil pickup tube. Ordered the new crank,timing set and gaskets friday,should be here tomorrow or thursday.hopefully have it...- 94f450sd

Ok remove the bottom dash panel under the column.now look at the right side of the column near where the black plastic cover ends.you will see a liitle white plastic bracket with a little cable going through it,hooked to a lever that is part of the shift tube.there is a thumb nut that adjusts...- 94f450sd

Gear Selector Out of Adjustment
Whats off? The indicator needle or shift lever? Is the shifter sloppy?the tube that runs down the column has two clamps with plastic bushings that hold it to the column.these bushings wear out.the tube is also known to break in the middle.you can get this tube after aftermarket.- 94f450sd
