    if its clunking when you put it in gear...yes that would be a u-joint. if you feel it when you take off...then you more than likely need to grease the slip yoke on your driveshaft by pulling out the driveshaft at the carrier bearing and slapping some grease on it and reassembling.

    my guess is the truck detected over-boosting, and probably set an over-boost code (you need to get it scanned for codes), and defueled to protected yout truck. pop the hood and check and see if all of your intercooler boots are nice and tight. It could be that the elevated boost level...

    im not 6.4 expert...but that sure sounds like a regen issue. the white smoke is more than likely unburnt fuel. lets start with the simple stuff though...you said youve got around 15k on it. probably wouldnt be a bad idea to ahead and change your fuel filters...that could be an issue. also...
