A few weeks ago I installed the MBRP "cool duals", and while the improvement was very nice in terms of sound and throttle responsiveness:sweet , the sound was not quite what I was looking for --- lots of air rush, not enough rumble.

:santa2 Ordered the "test" pipe :sly from ITP and waited for the weather to break in Michigan 37degF today --- good enough for me. 25 minutes later I was done--- WOW!:sweet

Sounds like a jet starting to spool at idle, and when the idle kicked-up a bit to 1000rpm, it only got better. Next was the all important test run sans-radio. Outstanding improvement to the low end rumble at 1,500rpm, and a WOT punch makes it sounds as good as any dual exhaust muscle car. I'm all grins. EXACTLY what I was looking for....

Test pipe "test" complete scoring an A+. I should have done this from the start.

Have a great xmas :wave

A test pipe replaces the Cat in the exhaust system. It is just a straight pipe that bolts in place of the catalytic converter.

They call it a test pipe because it is used to install in place of the cat when verifying the cat's condition. Really nobody uses it for a "test" pipe, it is usually used in the exhaust system to remove the cat for better purposes.

I think the 03's had a few less blades on the driven element, and were much louder. My 06' with no cat on it isn't anywhere near as loud. something about a 13 blade in the earlier units to a 15 or 16 blade in the current ones? Truth be told, I'd rather have the whine....
