CRJ & ERJ A&P Mech.
I've always pondered getting myself one, just for fun, nothing fancy, but was always put off by the cost of initial investment and parts to repair crash damage. But some guys at work showed me a easy to fly starter plane that doesn't cost too much. I was sold, so I picked up one of THESE at the local R/C hobby shop.
After putting the thing together, I taxied the thing up & down the street to get the feel for it. And promptly broke the prop when it unexpectantly went airborne on me. So on goes the spare prop.
This evening, I went to a nearby soccer field to try flying it. After a lap around the soccer field, I hit a tree.
Mental note to self: A 45" wingspan looks closer than it actually is.
I go check it out and seems to be OK. It give it another go, and around the field we go. I think I caught a wind gust, because it goes into a bank and I can't get it to level out before it hits the grass. Prop blade is now bent.-mad
but I can bend it back (plastic). Off we go again, into the wild blue yonder.
Another tree
Second mental note for self: gotta find a bigger field with fewer trees. Third mental note to self: the Anti-Crash Technology built into the plane, don't work with trees.
Try again, I launch it and it just doesn't seem quite right, the elevator control(up & down) isn't responding like it did, into the grass it goes again. I discover the end of the horizontal stab is bent, my one prop now has one blade instead of two and the engine cowl is cracked. I'm done for the day.

So I get home, and order 3 more props, two more horizontal stabs, an engine cowl and a few other things.
But I was doing better as I went along, but I think a larger flying area will not cause the replacement of as many parts. So with a few new parts, a larger flying area, I'll be enjoying(?) it again.
