With the recent repairs I've done to the truck this week I also changed the 4R100 filter and did a flush of the old transmission fluid.

All I can say is wow! what a difference new fluid and a filter makes even after only 31k on the old fluid:sweet

I installed the sonnax and tricumulator kit during the original trans filter/fluid change a few years back.

How long did it take you to do all this? How many quarts did you use? What kind of fluid are you running. Truck has 132k on it and getting ready to start putting alot of highway miles on it and I know that it is getting time to do a change.

Do you happen to know what trans I would have in my truck. Is the amount of fluid any different. I don't mind doing the work myself just want to make sure all is right and I know that I can trust ya'll when it comes to this.

Less than 2 hours;

Drain old fluid
Drop pan,clean pan and magnet
Install new filter(less than $20)
Reinstall pan(with reusable factory steel core gasket)
Proceed with flush procedure and top off till in the crosshatch mark.

Trans fluid Dexron III/Mercon $18 plus tax for a case of 12 quarts at Sam's,you'll need almost 20 quarts for the entire flush including top off.

The extra fluid I'd use to flush the power steering system and bleed the brakes with new fluid.

If you were in the area I'd gladly help with the work just like anyone else:sweet

Hi guys,
With the transmisson flush is anyone using the new mercon V in a 4R100.
I know that Ford reformulated the mercon V to work in the 4R100 but, I was wondering how it is working.
