Gus hows the truck running...I recently experianced some of the same...
and now that im here at SDD i can share w/ you that i was able to
complete my towing/trip under better conditions by disconnecting the
f'in EGR (someone send THAT to those bastard moderators over at
the police state diesel forum).
i notices higher egt's and then erractic boost under light throttle (5-10lbs
of boots)...and when i ROMP'ed down on the truck i got BLACK smoke...
the truck also seemed to be down on power.
luckily i overnighted in birmingham and got on the net where i was
helped by some (no moderator) forum members that also have experianced
my same symptoms...i pulled the EGR connection and gave it a try as
suggested...my MAX boost is off a bit (25-28lbs at the most, where i was
running 30-32lbs previously)...im STOCK ('cept for my MBRP exhaust).
the truck ran fine the rest of the trip.
I pulled DTC codes this afternoon w/ my newly purchased AUTOENGINUITY,
im showing.
P0403 * EGR Circuit * Module: Aux Emissions Control
P0404 * EGR Circuit Range/Performance * Module: Aux Emissions Control
P0405 * EGR Sensor A Circuit Low * Module: Aux Emissions Control
P0488 * EGR Throttle Position Control Range/Performance * Module:
Aux Emissions Control
P0500 * Vehicle Speed Idle Control & Aux. Inputs
Everything points to the EGR valve, but its clean...and was nearly
spotless before i pulled it & wiped it off good.
Personally i suspect ive got a VGT issue too but ill let the dealer
determine that.
is your truck a CALIFORNIA truck ??? My MIL light/indicator isnt on
but thats cause im NOT a california emissions truck either...
sounds like your ICP could be bad too...i THINK there were recalls on it
(there have been some on the EGR valves as well)
