Hi guys, here's my problem. I did a motor and trans swap into my 1978 f150. I told the 7.3 and e4od out of a E superduty 1997 cutaway van. I want more power out of it cuz its a dog. I know the superdutys are de tuned so you don't twist drive shafts with heavy loads but that's not a problem anymore. I put a buddys pcm in, out of his 97 f250 and started right up. The problem is that the trans thought it was in 3rd gear. I had to manually put it in 1st and so on. Any ideas on how to use an F series pcm in it?

Is the selector switch on the side of the transmission adjusted correctly and functional?

Did you swap the rear differential? It has the speed sensor.

The PCM needs to be the one from the Van you pulled the 7.3 & Trans from. Or one identical to it by part #.
